Why You Should Breastfeed - Two Major Reasons!
Breast feeding; whether to breast feed or not? How long should you breast feed your baby before weaning? What are the rights and wrongs? How much baby advice is there out there to choose from?
What is the best advice for your baby today? Who do you believe?
Well if you have been following my articles I quite often use a phrase we have all heard so many times common sense or that which people in common would agree to.
Common sense is most always the right thing to do but isnt always 100% accurate. Occasionally common sense has to bow down to scientific study. But for the most part using common sense will get you through with reference to your baby advice.
So lets answer some of those questions we have just asked. But one final point before we do. Fashions come and go trends change as many times as people change their minds. In the area of breast feeding the fashion and the beautiful figure imperative have been foremost in the mind of young mothers for a considerable number of years which leads us to ask one fundamental question?
And that question is; In the area of breastfeeding do you want to put yourself first, keep your figure, get back in shape as soon as possible and therefore wean your baby as soon as possible?
Or do you want to put your baby first, give your child the best start in life you can give them? Then you will have to come second in the fashion figure stake? Or is there even a third way a balance between the two?
When we had out first son we too sought all the baby advice we could get our hands on and made a balanced choice. The experts today advocate weaning baby at about the six month period. My wife had the good sense to join the local La Leche group and therefore had the benefit of both new mothers and experienced mothers to talk to.
My wife breast fed our son for about six months and then began to introduce a little solid food. We jointly decided that she would continue breastfeeding for at least one year and I supported her throughout. Now we agreed to head this way for two main reasons, one physiological and the other psychological.
The longer you can breast feed the chances of you baby improving its immune system are significantly increased. In other words the longer the baby receives mothers milk the greater the effect in building the resistance to illness and other health problems.
The other major factor that persuaded us to continue breastfeeding was the understanding of the psychological factor of bonding that takes place between baby and mother during the physical closeness in the process of breastfeeding.
It has been said that in the early months of a babys life it doesnt have a sense of its own separateness and the whole process of bonding reassures the baby and allows it to develop a confident and healthy relationship with the first person it experiences in life its mother.
And I am sure we would all agree with a start like that its other relationships are going to grow and mature as they should.
Make your own mind up consider all the facts choose your path and plan your campaign that is by far the best baby advice anyone can offer.
