Free Marketing VS Paid Marketing For A New Home Business Owner

A major problem many internet marketers face is whether to depend on paid marketing or not. Most home business owners have AdWords campaigns that they have run since they started out. This program is a reliable online marketing tool however, unless your ads have maintained a high click-through rate you have either lost money or maybe broke even. CTR is so important because it directly measures the success of your AdWords campaign as a whole and each ad individually. To achieve a high click-through rate as a new internet marketer is very difficult to accomplish because AdWords requires specialized knowledge.

To engage in paid marketing for your home business when you are first starting out is not recommended. Before you can put up advertisements using a system such as AdWords, you must learn how the system works and know how to market your business online. Therefore you must find good reading materials on the system or learn from a trustworthy mentor. Once you know how the system works and your approach, then put up a campaign with a small daily budget. Always start small with paid marketing, you can always go big later. If you burn yourself out too quickly there will be no next time in the AdWords game.

With regards to free marketing, the name basically says it all. Free marketing is the best form of marketing for two reasons. First, it costs absolutely nothing and the number of venues grows everyday. Second, free marketing employs search engine optimization and will attract more and more traffic for you over time without spending one penny. Especially when starting out, market your home business using various free marketing sources such as: Craigslist, Backpage, Adlandpro, Blogger, Squidoo...etc. Write articles, press releases and always look for new ways to market for free. By marketing to through various outlets with quality content everyday you will build a steady income stream. After about six months of diligent online marketing you can turn off your paid marketing sources and enjoy nothing but free traffic.
