A Poor Credit Student Loan is Available

For many college students a credit rating something their parents have to worry about. Sadly this is not the case in the real world. It is surprising the number of college students have never had a job in which to build a credit rating much less own a credit card in their own name. The bottom line is that students have to be aware of their credit history. There are times that the prospective college student has bad credit from the past. All of which will make it more difficult to acquire a student loan. Many will immediately think that they will not be able to get a student loan. Well, there is still a chance to avail financial help in such instances! Because there still may be some that possible college students can apply for.

A poor credit student loan allows students to apply for and pay for college even though they have bad credit. Their bad credit maybe a result of missed or late payments of an existing loan or credit card. It can also be a history of filing bankruptcy of an immediate family, relative or the borrower themselves.

One source of it is the Federal Stafford Loan. It could either be subsidized or unsubsidized according to the need of the student. This type of loan does not lookat the existing credit of the student. So even if you have bad credit status, you still have a good shot of having your loan application approved.

Another example of this loan type is Perkins Loan. It is a subsidized kind of student loan where in the government that does not require a credit check. Perkins Loans are available for both undergraduate and graduate students. Typical loans give from $1000 up to $4000 for each school year, but it does not to exceed the $20,000 total limit.

If a student wants to earn a degree in the field of health sciences, there are also loans available especially for them which do not look at the existing credit. These are Loans for Disadvantaged Students, Nursing Student Loan Program and Primary Care Loan Program. Many times these programs will allow it to be approved.

There is still hope for students with bad credit. Receiving them allows students to continue the pursuit of a college or university degree that might eventually help them find a career that will improve their credit scores. Nothing beats getting out of debt and managing finances
